Bio of each presenter/contributor
Lorna’s role is to ensure that people living with dementia and their families have the community support they need within their own locality. Lorna previously led the National Dementia Advisor Service at Alzheimer Scotland as well as her previous role of Dementia Advisor within North Lanarkshire. She has been involved in work with Scottish Prison Service, Intergenerational Work with schools, as well as building up sustainable groups for people living with dementia, which took place in a variety of places Sports Clubs, Pubs and Hotels.
Dawn covers the East of Scotland, working in the same role as Lorna. Dawn has worked in the world of Arts and Dementia Friendly Communities for many years, now working for Meeting Centres Scotland, Dawn is able to pull on her knowledge and enhance the supports we provide for people living with dementia and their families, creatively and is able to re-ignite people’s passion for arts, dance and music. Dawn is a professional ball room dancer and competitive coach, so if there is a dance floor in the area, you know where to find her!
Lorna and Dawn will showcase the work of Meeting Centres Scotland, highlighting the amazing work of local Meeting Centres. This model follows 11 Essential Features ensuring people living with dementia and their families are leading their own support, a support that is local and that they chose to attend. We are developing Meeting Centres across the country, working in partnership with local communities to achieve our vision of 'A Meeting Centre in every community' We are delighted to be talking with Shared Care Scotland and sharing how a Meeting Centre can and has impacted family carers in a positive way.

What to expect:
Our monthly online learning events aim to foster a community of learning exchange and practice development helping people to stay informed of emerging needs and practices.
We want to provide inspiration at a particularly challenging time for the health and social care sector. These sessions will help participants:
- share experiences and learn from others in the field.
- showcase personalised short breaks provision and practice - in action
- provide a stimulating space for innovative and strategic thinking which can lead to new ideas
